Katy Homeowners Trust ARK for Standby Power

Katy is one of the fastest-growing communities in the country, sprawling across Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller Counties with ZIP codes 77449, 77450, 77493, 77494, and several more. Most Katy families are commuter households with one or both parents working in the Energy Corridor or downtown Houston, and many have kids in Katy ISD schools. It is a market that takes home reliability seriously - and after Harvey, Imelda, and every other major event, an awful lot of Katy homeowners have decided that backup power is no longer optional.

Harvey Changed Katy's Relationship With Storms

Hurricane Harvey parked over southeast Texas in August 2017 and dumped 40+ inches of rain on the Houston metro. Katy was hit hard - Barker Reservoir filled, Cinco Ranch and many other west-side subdivisions flooded, and power outages stretched on for days. Even homes that did not flood lost power for extended periods. Harvey was the event that convinced a generation of Katy homeowners to invest in backup power. ARK has been installing whole-home generators for Harvey-experienced families ever since.

What We Install in Katy

Katy's housing mix is heavily new-construction master-planned, with larger homes, multi-zone HVAC, and increasingly high EV adoption. The typical Katy install is a Generac 22kW to 26kW or a Kohler 20RESC to 26RCL - large enough to comfortably power a 2,500 to 4,000 sqft home including AC, refrigeration, lighting, home office, and EV charging. See our residential installation page for our full process.

Katy Install Considerations

Fort Bend County Permitting

A lot of Katy sits in Fort Bend County, which has its own electrical permit process. We have filed plenty of permits with Fort Bend and we know which documentation the inspectors ask for.

HOA and Deed Restrictions

Cinco Ranch, Seven Meadows, Firethorne, and most other Katy master-planned communities have HOAs with visible-equipment rules. We work with you on placement to keep both code and your HOA happy.

Longer Response Time

Katy is on the far west side of the Houston metro from our Conroe headquarters. Service is always available, but response times run longer - typically next business day for non-emergencies and same-day or next-day for emergencies. Priority goes to active maintenance customers.
